 FAQs

  • I was raised in Lynden, Washington, a small dairy farming town near the Canadian border. I went to a Christian school from Kindergarten through 12th grade and knew each of my classmates by name.

  • In fourth grade, I began to write poetry privately. It was not until high school that I began sharing my work; and, until I went to college, I had not realized the dream of pursuing writing full time.

  • Too big of a question to answer in a FAQs page! However, my passions have an answer to both questions. More than anything, writing allows for human connection. The ability to share my love of words, nature, and queerness to the world is the greatest gift.

My writing always contains an undercurrent of social justice. I seek to create safe spaces for minorities and secure the future of our planet from further devastation.

  • I aspire to maintain a relationship with writing and the amazing literary communities that flourish in DC. Long term, I am working towards a professional career in academia. Students deserve to be inspired by passionate individuals; I would love nothing more than to show up with intense creative energy every day for my future students.

Securing a job in academia is difficult, especially for creative writing. This means I am happy to pursue work that related to student services and all types of writing. Any type of civic engagement contributes positively to my work!

Finally, the ultimate goal is to become a published author of books!
