Book Review: Between the World and Me
What a wonderful book by Ta-Nehisi Coates! Love, love, love! This book is beautifully written, which is not to say it exists gently. Coates brought forth a dagger in the form of a pen and cuts with intention. Powerfully moving with anecdotes, wisdom, and style. Had me crying in the club. Had me examining my relationship to power and my own marginalizations. Had me thinking just how much the world would change if we agreed on his statements.
I recommend this book to anyone, but particularly to the older generations white Americans. Coates explains exactly why forgetting history is never an option for suffering individuals.
Rating: 10/10
What this rating means: One of the best books I have ever read, would reread, and would recommend without hesitation. Also, he has a stellar review from Toni Morrison—what more could you need?!
